More variety of food choices for breakfastHannah James-Thomas11:12 04 Feb 24A really lovely stay with my family for the weekend. Check in was smooth and easy - we had to wait a little bit for one of the rooms to be ready but it wasn't an issue for us. Staff were super friendly and welcoming. We loved the pool area and splash pad for our young children. The beach was ok - a bit small and cramped but that's nothing you can really change! The beds were super comfy and our rooms were clean and comfortable. The bathrooms felt a little bit tired and dated and we had some issues with water escaping from the shower.Food at breakfast was great - brilliant selection and service was wonderful - especially from Jalita who was so kind and friendly!david rochford13:58 30 Jan 24Pool was great, with deep areas for adults and shallow areas for the kids. Pool lounges were away from the pool area and replaced with tables and umbrellas, and this allowed those that wanted to just sun-bake enough space and didn't clutter the pool area. Rooms were nice and had smart TV's that allowed sharing of tablet or mobile content to watch movies. Food and night markets within a few minutes walk and great value.Nurul Liliy21:56 27 Dec 23I am very happy, stayed at Shangri La!The location of the hotel has a beautiful view looking towards the sea, and The place is outside the night market and has many eateries.. The pool and gym are great too!Love how fun they are to set up a place for kids. the food is good from buffet style food during dinner and breakfast. The service is excellent with very friendly and helpful staff especially Wind who has been very helpful during our stay so far.I would recommend coming to this place with family as their facilities and activities are more suitable for such groups.Happy Holiday!Francesca Therese Lee05:54 24 Dec 23Was a really great stay at Shangri La! This place is just outside the night market and has a lot of eateries & massage parlours around.Despite the huge huge crowd at the hotel, the staff were very attentive, friendly and tried their best to accommodate your needsThe pool and gym were also great! Loved how fun they make the place for the childrenBut the beach is not well maintained at all. It’s barely a beach. I would recommend you hang at the pool or their garden! The rooms were good and clean, and the food was amazing! Loved their buffet selection, there was even hot Milo being served!I would recommend coming to this place with family as their facilities and activities are more suited for such groups. Not really recommended for couples or solo trips because it can get really loud in the hotel with all the children’s excitement.Enjoy! 🙂

Erik van Luijtelaar03:21 15 Mar 24A top hotel in Georgetown. Small and clear. Beautiful decoration of the room but also of the lobby and central corridor. Extremely friendly staff (I've rarely seen them so friendly). Very helpful. Breakfast was great, a la carte. Very nicely laid out. The afternoon tea was also great. Many places in Georgetown can be reached on foot.Cool K09:18 11 Mar 24Great little hotel, with lovely dressing room and bathroom. The staff was also super friendly.frau muster05:39 10 Mar 24Street side room noisy, no possibility to open the windows.Breakfast sufficient, but not more.Quite okay for 1-2 nights.TONY PENG15:47 04 Feb 24I approached Areca hotel for a group booking for my wedding guests in Mid January.Mr Nazrin and the rest of the front desk management team were very responsive and helpful in helping us with all the necessary arrangements for our guest's stay. The hotel is well maintained and service is superb.Ciarán Butler14:40 30 Jan 24This place is fine. Not great though, especially considering how expensive it is. The room is large, but strangely played out. The bathrooms small and smelly. The plug sockets are poorly and inconveniently placed. The building itself though is quite nice, and the location is good, except that the wedding venue across the street makes for some very noisy evenings. For €130+ you’d expect more.Dexter Kho14:38 17 Jan 24My family and I stayed here for five days. Nice boutique hotel that is close to many of the nearby eateries, night markets and Komtar shopping centre. Hotel is relatively well kept with friendly and helpful staff. There is lift to reach the higher floors. Complimentary tea (cakes, ice cream, local deserts, tea and coffee) from 2-5pm is offered to guest. Rooms are on smaller side but comfortable. Both fan and aircon available. However, some cleaning required to the bathrooms as mould is starting to gather in some areas. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in Areca and consider it value for money with excellent location.Kk Koh14:39 16 Jan 24Check-in - Was smooth with a deposit of MYR 100 refundable. We were able to have a early check-in. The lobby is not big but well decorated with antiques and the likes. A refreshing aesthetic feel away from the normal modern hotel.'Location – Very well located in the vinicity of the world heritage Georgetown. Can walk to most places of interest. Also surrounded by many eateries and street food. The very popular Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul is just behind the hotel. We had a wonderful fine-dining experience of western cuisine at The White by Catch (randomly walked in) – about 5 minutes walk from hotel. It was very easy to take Grab in Penang..Room – We booked the Family Suite for 3 with breakfast. I have never stayed in such a big room before! 2 queen beds with 2 aircons to addition to 2 fans. Full of antique Peranakan furnitures. Old as it may be, there is a luxury of modern comfort provided. There is a mechanical lift that brought us to the first level where we stayed. You need to know how to operate for it to work. Wifi speed was acceptable. There is no pool or gym..Bathroom - Clean with 2 washing basins. All necessary bathroom accessories are provided. Water pressure of hot and cold was strong despite the fact there was a water disruption in Georgetown during our visit..Breakfast - Small and simple spread but adequate.yodo saan04:02 18 Nov 23great staff, very helpful and polite! the old-style fashion of the building is lovely but the room in not so comfortable.. no noise insulation and poor thermal insulation.. the aircon was working hard to keep the room temp acceptable. in the morning you can hear every other guest waking up, having shower, chatting in the hallway and even the voice and traffic from outside. nice place, but won t come back

Kathy Saw02:10 16 Mar 24First time in my life I check in to a 5 star hotel and bitten by bugs. I just lie down on the bed for around 20 mins and I have rashes and Bumps all over my body. It’s lucky that we didn’t sleep on it yet and I discovered it. Otherwise I can’t imagine what will happen the next day.The hotel change my room to another room. when the duty manager asked if I need any medication or ointment, I requested for hydrocortisone to relief from the itch. To my horror, she told me that I will have to apply it on the spot when they send it to the room and pass it back to the security waiting at the door. A tube of hydrocortisone only cost RM10 and they are so stingy to even borrow for a night. Lucky that I brought my other ointment with me for travel. For breakfast, we have to book a slot during check in. There are 3 slot available for breakfast and we have to finish eating within the time slot. It’s the first time I encounter a 5 star hotel buffet breakfast that we can’t even sit down and slowly enjoy my coffee and breakfast with the kids during the holiday and I have to rush to finish my breakfast within the 1.5 hr.I will never come back to this hotel.Michelle Melissa Foo11:14 13 Mar 24Great family experience each time. It's our 3rd visit here and we love it. The design of the pool is wonderful as there are also beach sections for the children to play with sand.My kids love the slides, the basketball hoop in the pool and the varieties of deep and shallow areas for them to swim in.Plenty of beach chairs for parents to lounge in, shady areas in and out of the pool to stay protected from the sun, and the slides are also adult friendly.Rooms are spacious and clean.Service from the staff is excellent. Vinud from the hotel team has been very kind to our family and is an asset to Hard Rock. Huge compliments to him, always making us feel welcomed.Rachel Miller04:56 24 Feb 24This is one of my favorite stays of any hotel in Malaysia. The room was artistic and clean. Staff were responsive and professional. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious. There’s a quiet pool for those wanting more privacy and a water slide for the family. I loved all the special touches including checking out a guitar to rock out in your room or enjoying a new playlist in your room so you could sing in the shower.Lau Shi Hong06:23 19 Feb 24Once we got to the lobby, it’s extremely hot with no air conditioner. When we finally got to check in, toilet bowl wasn’t clean, we could see yellow stains, then the tea spoon had stain as well.We stayed in seaview deluxe terrace, hoping to chill at the big balcony, however the chairs at balcony were infected with ants. Toiletries smell too strong. Breakfast was good but too crowded. Purple light in the room would make you feel dizzy. Definitely not a quiet place with big pools around the hotel, it’s more suitable for families with kids who love swimming.Hala Moqadam02:25 06 Feb 24It was a great experience at the hard rock in the 2015. Fun activities with every move especially that from my room i could go directly into the swimming pool. Fun activities on the beach. Nice and friendly staff. Nice spa. The environment is cozy . Also the singer at the pub was so good bit i cant recall his name. This year i only went there to visit a friend and i still felt the same warmth and the accomodating and welcoming environment.Cassie Monahan06:46 11 Jan 24We had a fantastic stay and the staff were so friendly. Rooms were clean and had everything we needed. We loved the free in room movies as a perfect way to unwind after a day in the pool. The pool area is amazing, great for families and the spa was great as well. We had a bad experience at a nearby hotel and the hard rock team were so friendly and accommodating, thank you!
